Teaching Engagements

M.J. Rose is teaching three classes at Writers Weekly University at different times during the year. Each class is six weeks long and takes place online, through personal student-to-teacher email.
- Procrastinate Your Way Into Writing a Novel
- How to Trick Yourself Into Finishing Your Novel
- Create A Buzz Plan Without The Guesswork: Marketing For Authors
(With Douglas Clegg)

Comments about the classes:
The class is absolutely great and M.J. Rose is a gem.
-- Helena Bouchez

Discovering that the paths to successful storytelling can actually be revealed by not writing at all has opened up all sorts of possibilities. Procrastination is not a bump in the road to send me careening out of control, but an on-ramp to my imagination. M.J. Rose has been an insightful guide, challenging me to learn that sitting back and thinking is just as much a part of the creative process as putting words to paper. Before this course, I would have never thought that procrastination could be so much fun. Cheers!
-- V.J.Bauer

I am so excited about this course. M.J. gives encouragement, ideas and affirmation that I may be on the right track. It is so good to hear that many people need the percolating process of perhaps a year before they are ready to write a subsequent novel. I thought maybe my imagination was being obstinate. Now I know it is normal. I am beginning to feel the ideas come alive again. M.J. is extremely helpful. It is a pleasure to get her lessons and her responses.

Will There Ever Be an e-Book Culture?
The debate over the future of the electronic book is at a standstill. Neo-Luddites bemoan its very existence. Cyberphiles gloat at its potential to supplant print books altogether. But in order to address the future of the e-book, we must examine the cultural, political, and philosophical perspective on written artistic expression and the dissemination of information through the print book. Participants in this discussion will be challenged to examine what the history and development of the print book can tell us about the future of the e-book ... if in fact it is to have a future.
Also on the Panel:
Mark Crispin Miller, Professor of Media Studies, New York University Danny Schechter, TV producer; Executive Editor, Mediachannel.org Barney Rosset, Publisher, Grove Press, Evergreen Review, Foxrock Books Eben Moglen, Professor of Law and Legal History at Columbia Law School
