Archive for December, 2012 The bizarre road of anthropological cover-ups (giants in North America?) I find the pre-historical origins of man to be beyond fascinating. It really seems like there is so much we don’t know yet, so many bizarre and amazing things to be discovered. There also may be some cover-ups. Did you know that skeletons of a prehistoric race of giants have (possibly) been found in the Americas? If you’re interested in this stuff, there is a TedX lecture that will blow your socks off: “Jim Vieira’s research over the last 20 years has led him down a bizarre road of intrigue and mystery surrounding the races and…

Is A Bigfoot Disclosure On The Horizon?
Is A Bigfoot Disclosure On The Horizon? I was always skeptical of Bigfoot even though I wanted so much to believe in a higher primate with which we humans could share our world. With all the hoaxes and insubstantial “evidence” floating around, it was starting to feel bleak for poor Sasquatch, despite its long history of sightings, dating all the way back to ancient pictographs by native North Americans. And then there was new analysis of the original print of the infamous Patterson/Gimlin film. The recent documentary from National Geographic in which this incredible film evidence is seriously tested can be seen here - For more interesting information on newsworthy…

The Madness of Creativity
The Madness of Creativity Those of us who are creative types may, sadly, already be aware of this – and therefore it is not much of a mystery to us! The good news is that with increased scientific understanding may come better treatments, but let’s hope that whatever treatments are discovered treat the illness without damaging the genius that often comes along with it… Creativity ‘closely entwined with mental illness’ By Michelle Roberts Health editor, BBC News online “Creativity is often part of a mental illness, with writers particularly susceptible, according to a study of more than a million people. Writers had a higher risk of anxiety and bipolar disorders,…

Tesla’s Death Ray: Was It Real?
Tesla’s Death Ray: Was It Real? Tesla’s Death Ray (from Viewzone.com) “Given that Tesla’s inventions generally possessed an element of social conscience, of doing good for humanity, it may seem surprising that he created a number of devices with military applications. And the notion of the Tesla harnessing his mind for purposes of war may seem immensely frightening. After all, this is the man who boasted that with his resonance generator he could split the earth in two… and no one was ever quite sure whether he was joking. The first Tesla invention with a proposed military use was his automaton technology, with which the labor of human beings could…

Like looking for a single needle in thousands of haystacks…
Like looking for a single needle in thousands of haystacks… It seems like almost every day we hear about something completely new out there in our grand, mysterious universe. A star-less, ‘homeless’ planet is finally discovered after much searching… An artist’s impression of lonely ‘homeless’ planet CFBDSIR2149 Photo: European Southern Observatory By Hannah Furness A young “homeless planet”, up to seven times the size of Jupiter and with no gravitational ties, has been spotted by scientists for the very first time. The lonely planet, called CFBDSIR2149 at the moment, is deemed “homeless” as it does not orbit a star. It is the first isolated planet of its kind ever to…

The Enchanted Island of Centenarians
The Enchanted Island of Centenarians Readers, this is one of the most interesting and mysterious articles I have read in ages. It makes me want to pack my bags for a “blue zone”! What do you think this geographical “fountain of youth” is about? The air, the water, the people, the lifestyle, the napping, or something else more inexplicable or supernatural? Please share your ideas in the comments – we’re excited to hear from you. The Island Where People Forget to Die By DAN BUETTNER In 1943, a Greek war veteran named Stamatis Moraitis came to the United States for treatment of a combat-mangled arm. He’d survived a gunshot wound,…

The Earth Sings: As Heard From Space…
The Earth Sings: As Heard From Space… “…A NASA spacecraft has just beamed back a beautiful song sung by our own planet…” NASA spacecraft records ‘Earthsong’ by Dr. Tony Phillips “It’s called chorus,” explains Craig Kletzing of the University of Iowa. “This is one of the clearest examples we’ve ever heard.” Chorus is an electromagnetic phenomenon caused by plasma waves in Earth’s radiation belts. For years, ham radio operators on Earth have been listening to them from afar. Now, NASA’s twin Radiation Belt Storm Probes are traveling through the region of space where chorus actually comes from—and the recordings are out of this world…” Read more and listen here. Emily…

Alchemists Take Note!
Alchemists Take Note! Ah, what they would have done in the ancient world to have this secret in their pocket… Superman-Strength Bacteria Produce 24-Karat Gold “At a time when the value of gold has reached an all-time high, Michigan State University researchers have discovered a bacterium’s ability to withstand incredible amounts of toxicity is key to creating 24-karat gold. “Microbial alchemy is what we’re doing — transforming gold from something that has no value into a solid, precious metal that’s valuable,” said Kazem Kashefi, assistant professor of microbiology and molecular genetics. He and Adam Brown, associate professor of electronic art and intermedia, found the metal-tolerant bacteria Cupriavidus metallidurans can grow…

Was Jesus Married To A Woman? Or Was He Married To The Church?
Was Jesus Married To A Woman? Or Was He Married To The Church? I’m fascinated with the little scrap of papyrus they found that suggests Jesus was married (perhaps to Mary Magdalene?). We already knew this in our gut though, right? Why wouldn’t Jesus have been married? Or, could it be that the words “My wife” are in reference to the holy church? The debate will no doubt go on and on… Here is one perspective: ‘Proof’ Jesus was married found on ancient papyrus that mentions how son of God spoke of his wife and Mary Magdalene By DAMIEN GAYLE “A recently uncovered fragment of ancient papyrus makes the explosive…
