Welcome to Planet Urantia. You’re Home.

Welcome to Planet Urantia. You’re Home. I studied the Bible in college, I’ve read many Buddhist texts, and I’ve even been known to crack open the Book of Mormon when I find it hiding in motels…but the most interesting, mysterious, and utterly mindboggling religious text I’ve ever read is The Urantia Book (According to this tome, Urantia is the “true” name of Earth.) Essential hip reading in the ’70′s, my father had a copy in his bookshelf when I was growing up and for laughs he’d read a passage here and there as a trippy bedtime story of sorts. Check it out for yourself and consider getting your own copy…

    NDEs – The Evidence Grows…

NDEs – The Evidence Grows… As life saving and resuscitation techniques improve there are more and more accounts of Near-Death Experiences. In this short video clip Gary Habermas delivers an account of the amazing near-death experience of a little girl from Idaho. (From *) “Agnostic pediatric intern and brain specialist Melvin Morse admitted a small girl, Katie, to a mid Western American emergency room. She was said to have been under water for nineteen minutes and was comatose. She was hooked up in the ICU but was not treated. She came to three days later, and remembered the two doctors who worked on her. That is, she watched them at…

    birthmarks and past lives…

birthmarks and past lives… The esteemed Dr. Ian Stevenson on birthmarks as they relate to past lives - “…In cases in which a deceased person was identified the details of whose life unmistakably matched the child’s statements, a close correspondence was nearly always found between the birthmarks and/or birth defects on the child and the wounds on the deceased person. In 43 of 49 cases in which a medical document (usually a postmortem report) was obtained, it confirmed the correspondence between wounds: and birthmarks (or birth defects). There is little evidence that parents and other informants imposed a false identity on the child in order to explain the child’s birthmark…

    Beginnings

Beginnings Although it is often difficult to separate the concept of reincarnation from fearful thoughts of death, reincarnation is as much about beginnings as it is about endings. Perhaps if we focus on the lighter half of the equation we may be able to avoid the trap of fearing the unknown? Tune in to The Best of Our Knowledge online and listen to their show Beginnings: “Where do we come from? It’s a fair question. Physicist Michio Kaku says we’re the reverb of a Big Bang from another universe. No, says poet Stephen Mitchell – the answer’s in our creation stories. But midwife Ina May Gaskin knows where we really…

Bodies ‘R Us. Or ‘R They?

Bodies ‘R Us. Or ‘R They? Back when I lived in Manhattan I felt a bit like a walking corpse thanks to long hours worked in publishing and a severe lack of home cooking, so I sometimes bowed out of the rigorous happy hour gatherings of the working stiffs in my circle to rest my bones and tune my brain at an NYU lecture. At one of these lectures I had the pleasure of listening to author Mary Roach speak about her new book – Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers. The subject was macabre and yet Roach somehow made it hilariously funny – an intelligent book about dead…

Deja Video – The Tibetan Book of the Dead: A Way of Life The Great Book of Natural Liberation through Understanding in the Between, or as we Westerners refer to it – Tibetan Book of the Dead, written by Padma Sambhava in the late eighth century, vividly describes the “betweens” (Bardos) or after-death transition states. It serves as a practical guidebook for the recently dead as he travels through the death experience toward liberation or enlightenment, or back to earth in another incarnation. The documentary film The Tibetan Book of the Dead is narrated by none other than Leonard Cohen whose calming deep voice guides us as we experience from…

THE DAY I DIED: The mind, the brain and near death experiences

THE DAY I DIED: The mind, the brain and near death experiences (The International Association For Near Death Studies) The most compelling, up-to-date video on NDEs, “The Day I Died”, produced by the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) in 2002, can now be purchased in the United States. Where Reincarnation and Biology Intersect

Where Reincarnation and Biology Intersect Recently deceased, Dr Ian Stevenson was the world’s foremost researcher on reincarnation. In , Dr Stevenson provides a well-researched and approachable synopsis of a series of books that he published over nearly four decades on the subject of children who claim to remember a previous life and who bear physical scars as proof. The Case for Reincarnation by Joe Fisher

The Case for Reincarnation by Joe Fisher is considered a classic on the subject of reincarnation. Originally published in 1984, this international bestselling classic study of reincarnation has been thoroughly revised, updated, and expanded. A fresh introduction by the author and a brand-new chapter on recent case studies and major new advances in reincarnation research are among the wide-ranging revisions. “Reincarnation is not an exclusively Hindu or Buddhist concept, but it is part of the history of human origin. It is proof of the mindstream’s capacity to retain knowledge of physical and mental activities. It is related to the theory of interdependent origination and to the law of cause and…
