    Reincarnating Thetans?

Reincarnating Thetans? When I think of Scientology I laugh. I find it completely hilarious that an entire religion is based on science fiction – but some people would argue the same thing about a virgin birth and a resurrected savior…. Don’t mark my words, but I heard through the grapevine, about third-hand actually, that Hubbard was challenged by a friend to ‘create a religion’ to which his response was, ‘watch me!’ – voila, Scientology. Anyway, I was interested to read in the following article that Scientologists do seem to believe in a form of reincarnation, though their ‘reincarnation’ sounds a bit less meaningful spiritually than the Buddhist beliefs, and more…

    Is Bigfoot an Alien?

Is Bigfoot an Alien? Okay, okay, it’s not about reincarnation. But how can I resist posting an article with this title? And better yet, this article will spawn some great comments from readers…right? Come on, I know you are dying to take an intellectual stab at the bigfoot/alien debate Is Bigfoot an Alien? by Steve Bass (American Chronicle dot com) When you say the word “Bigfoot”, many get mental pictures of a large, muscular ape with long hair sneaking through the woods of the American Northwest. Does Bigfoot really exist? If so, what is it? There are those who approach the Bigfoot question from a scientific point of view. Cryptozoology…

    Houdini Speaks!

Houdini Speaks! …ok, not really. You see, Houdini was not only the superhero of his time, but a skeptic and and an anti-spiritualist who made a point of exposing spirit mediums with intensive investigations and tests. My own little Houdini theory is this: What caused this man’s obsession with disproving the afterlife? Imagine this: here was a man who was haunted by his own mortality. Perhaps his deep probings into the authenticity of the spiritual realms came from a place of intense hope? Here is another Houdini theory: He was murdered by resentful spiritualists… “An extraordinary claim that illusionist and escapologist Harry Houdini may have been murdered by Spiritualists is…

    Just Another Zen Joke…

Just Another Zen Joke… A guy walks up to a Zen master and asks, “Is there life after death?”. The Zen master says, “How should I know?”. The guy replies indignantly, “Because you’re a Zen master!”. “Yes,” says the Zen master, “but not a dead one.” (kudos to an excellent for this one) The Reincarnationist on 12 May 2008 | Uncategorized | Comments (0) Comments are closed. always changing, always moving

always changing, always moving I’ve posted here a couple of quotes a friend of mine who is going through an intense time in her life recently emailed to me. It’s interesting how highly emotional experiences seem to cause us to be more receptive to everything in our world for a time. It’s as if our minds and souls use times of upheaval as a chance to throw open a window inside us so that as much wisdom as possible rushes inside. There is more creativity, for example, in times when we are experiencing emotional highs or lows. “‘Our existences precede our essences,’ as Sartre put it. I don’t know what…

    Rituals of the Self

Rituals of the Self I have a young baby so partying ’til midnight for New Years was not exactly on the agenda. This year, to welcome 2008, I created what I hope will become a new ritual. I lay the baby down for her last sleep of 2007 (the year of her birth) and stepped into a piping hot shower. With the new scrubby sponge my sister Kate gave me for Christmas, and the earthy geranium soap I’ve been using since the Christmas before, I began to scrub. I scrubbed from the bottom up – bottoms of tired new mama feet, the flat planes of knee caps achey from bearing…

Bigfoot actually caught on film? Is this for real?

Bigfoot actually caught on film? Is this for real? Could it be true? Bigfoot caught on camera? (From The Daily Telegraph) A PHOTOGRAPH taken by a hunter in Pennsylvania has reignited debate over the existence of Bigfoot. Rick Jacobs claims to have taken the pictures using a camera hung from a tree with an automatic trigger. "We couldn't figure out what they were," Mr Jacobs said in a report by the Associated Press. "I've been hunting for years and I've never seen anything like this." Bigfoot enthusiasts say it appears to be the real deal but, perhaps predictably because of the quality of the photos, other experts say it looks…

    A Swedenborgian view of reincarnation

A Swedenborgian view of reincarnation The word “Swedenborgian” has always made me giggle because it reminds me of the word “Borg”, you know, as in the cyborgs from Star Trek. But alas, the Swedenborg movement is much more than just a memory jog to a nerdy television series, it’s an open-minded and forward thinking Christian church with beliefs based on the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772). The odd bit about this movement is that it is very much against reincarnationist ideas. Swedenborg’s view is an interesting one and worth investigating – he claimed that “one reason people believe in reincarnation is that they have no clear idea of the life…
